New Hope Treatment Center to implement new software suite
New Hope Treatment Centers Rock Hill, S.C., will implement the electronic health record and revenue cycle management behavioral health software of Core Solutions.
The organization, a residential care facility offering behavioral health services in nine counties, spent two years looking for the right vendor, says Eric Baumgartner, CEO and President at New Hope.
“Throughout the process, we struggled to find an EHR vendor that understood and could accommodate our unique mix of services, rather than boxing us into a mold as a hospital or outpatient practice,” he explains. “We are neither of those things and Core truly understands our business both on a federal and granular level, and could genuinely meet our needs.”
Offering specialized residential services for male and female adolescents ages 12 to 21, New Hope provides a variety of treatments that include mood disorders, substance abuse issues, behavioral disorders and offensive sexual behavior.
After vetting nine prospective EHR vendors on the criteria of reputation, company relationships, price, platform flexibility and product features, Core was selected for its ability to meet the needs of the organization and community, Baumgartner adds.
Joining up with Core also will allow New Hope Treatment Centers to connect to North Carolina’s Health Information Exchange by 2020 and meet a mandate enacted by the state legislature.
Here are other health IT contracts and go-lives announced this past week.
- Provider organizations using Meditech software continue to migrate to the vendor’s next-generation Expanse electronic health record, with St. Luke’s Health Care System in Duluth, Minn., being one of the latest clients to go live. St. Luke providers are able to access the complete patient history and share data throughout the organization’s two hospitals, 44 clinics and 240 clinicians.
- In addition to the newer EHR, Meditech’s acute care, emergency care and ambulatory modules also are live. “Expanse streamlines how we access and share patient information across our system,” says Clark Averill, information technology director. St. Luke’s also serves parts of northeastern Minnesota, northwestern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
- The North Dakota Health Information Network is upgrading its health information exchange capabilities to provide considerably more information to providers via an upgrade to the Amadeus HIE platform of incumbent vendor Orion Health. Providers using the platform will be able to share, view and receive patients’ immunization records, medication lists, histories, discharge summaries, lab results and radiology reports, and be able electronically share referrals. The HIE further is working with the vendor to expand access to real-time medication data and new reporting tools to proactively monitor patients’ management and adherence.
- Capital Caring, with 12 sites serving the Fredericksburg and Richmond regions of Virginia, has selected software and services from Netsmart to improve hospice and palliative care by enhancing workflows and access to the complete historical patient record. Like many organizations, staffing shortages and talent retention remain challenging for Capital Caring as it works to succeed in a value-based environment. “Our clinicians need the best tools at hand to allow them to provide the best care effectively and efficiently,” says Hershell Foster, chief technology officer at the organization. “It’s really about what a technology partner can provide to help us empower and equip our clinicians to provide better care and service the community through a more seamless experience.”
